KVK, Shimla celebrates Himachal Day with Farmers

KVK, Shimla at Rohru has added a new chapter to its array of services to farmers, by celebrating the Himachal Day on 15th April 2019 with young farmers on the issue of doubling of farmers’ income. Scientists Orchardists Interaction Meetings were organized on 15th April 2019 in cluster of villages i.e. Arhal, Samoli, Seema, Saktinagar, Bhoot, Sandasu, Chirgaon. In every village, a group of 30-40 farmers participated in these meeting with full enthusiasm. Farmers shared their rich experiences and problems in apple cultivation. Dr Rajbir Singh, Director, ATARI, Zone -1, Ludhiana was the chief guest for the series of events organized in various villages in Rohru and Chauhara blocks of Shimla district. Scientists of KVK also shared tips with the farmers on the issue of high density plantation and other emerging issues for doubling farmers’ income.

Earlier, Dr Rajbir Singh, addressed the seeds and pesticides dealers undergoing Diploma in Agriculture Extension and Services for Input-Dealers (DAESI) at KVK Shimla at Rohru on the eve of Himachal Day on 14th April 2019. He emphasized upon the role of agricultural input dealers in transfer of technology to farmers as the input dealers are the first persons contacted by the famers while planning the crop production or to address any problem in crop production. Dr Rajbir also monitored and appreciated the various activities of the KVK and lauded the role of scientists who are to working with extra zeal and commitment to serve the farmers in remote areas and tough terrain of the district.
