 National Webinar on Role of Agri-Entrepreneurship in Atam Nirbhar Bharat organized

 ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana in collaboration with Agrivision organized a webinar on Role of Agri-Entrepreneurship in Atam Nirbhar Bharat on 13th September 2020. Sh Kailash Choudhary, Hon’ble Minister of State for Agriculture & farmer’s Welfare, GOI was the Chief Guest and Dr. A.K. Singh, DDG (Agril ext), ICAR, New Delhi was guest of honour of the National Seminar. In his address, Sh Kailash Choudhary informed about various schemes started by Government of India for the welfare of the farmers. He mentioned that FPOs can help farmers in realising the price of their produce. Farmers and youths can come forward to start food processing units. He appreciated the efforts of ICAR-ATARI and Agri-vision, Punjab for organising this webinar. Dr. A.K. Singh lauded the role played by Punjab and Haryana in making country self sufficient in food grain production. However, he said that due to paddy-wheat cropping system in these states creating problems of natural resources. He emphasised that Punjab has to diversify and bring at least one million ha area of Paddy into maize, cotton, vegetables and fruits. He urged the rural youth to come forward in the field of entrepreneurship for self-employment and income generation. He also elaborated the prospectus to promote one district – one commodity for Atam Nirbhar Bharat.

In this webinar, Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana empathised that entrepreneurship development in agriculture will pave the path of Atam Nirbhar Bharat. He shared that skill development and ARYA are the major schemes of Government of India which can make rural youth as entrepreneurs. He highlighted the scope of FPOs and enumerated some case study of successful entrepreneurs. On this occasion Sh. GS Tomar, National Convener, Agrivision shred the vision and mission of agrivision for Atam Nirbhar Bharat.  Progressive Farmers and agri-entrepreneurs, Padamshree Sh Kanwal Singh Chauhan, processing and value addition; Sh Dhandeep Singh; Sh GS Shergill, floriculturist and Sh Vishjit Jyani, Natural Farming and Agro-tourism shared their  experience.

About 500 participants including progressive farmers, entrepreneurs, Scientists of ICAR, SAUs and KVKs of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaralhand, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh attended this webinar.
