International Women’s Day organized with budding entrepreneurs and start-ups

ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana celebrated International Women's Day on 8th March 2021 in the premises of ICAR-ATARI, Zone-I, Ludhiana.  The theme for this year of International Women's day was Women Leadership in Agriculture “Entrepreneurship, Equity and Empowerment”.

Dr. (Mrs.) Ravinder Kaur Dhaliwal, Director of students Welfare, PAU, Ludhiana in her address thanked the farm women who have come from faraway places to participate in this workshop. She said managing home and work is a herculean task but still the Indian women are maintaining a good balance. She laid stress that women should be more aware and vigilant so that she should learn everything what is happening around her and take out the best out of the situation. She stressed upon creating more social, economic and political awareness among women folk.

Earlier, Dr. Rabjir Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI Ludhiana briefed the house about the various activities carried out by the KVKs of Zone-I for the empowerment of farm women. He further said woman can do anything and everything; she only needs to believe in her-self. He also shared the ideas of successful women entrepreneurs and how these women learnt from their failures and today are leading the successful business empires in the state.

Two emerging women entrepreneurs also shared their views amongst the gathering and motivated other women attending the programme to start their ventures from small level itself. ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana also felicitated two budding entrepreneurs during the programme.

Dr. Kuldip Singh, Head, Department of Extension Education and Communication Management, PAU, Ludhiana spoke about the importance of women role in the development of society and stressed on changing our attitudes towards women each one of us can play a part in uprooting social and spiritual evils like female foeticide, dowry system, crime against women from our lives and society. He further motivated the women to join the skill development programmes organized by the University especially for the farm women.

The celebration of the programme was attended by fifty women, budding entrepreneurs and they also attended the virtual programme organized by the ICAR-Headquarters for awarding the best women entrepreneurs in different field of agriculture and allied activities.
