ICAR-ATARI,
Zone-I, Ludhiana organises Workshop on ‘PM–KUSUM Component A’
The
ICAR-ATARI organised an impactful awareness-raising workshop for farmers on
'PM–KUSUM Component A' in collaboration with GIZ India on July 4, 2024 at
ICAR-ATARI, Zone-I, Ludhiana. The event saw the participation of 87
individuals, including farmers and Subject Matter Specialists (SMS) from six
Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs): Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Moga, Barnala,
Jalandhar, and Sangrur.
Dr
Parvender Sheoran, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana encouraged farmers to adopt
renewable energy sources. He emphasised the need of integrating
solar energy into agricultural practices, contributing to a sustainable and
economically viable farming sector.
Sh.
Ranjit Jadhav and Sh. Y.V.K. Rahul from GIZ India collaboratively highlighted
the key features of PM KUSUM Component A. Various installation and
business models were also presented through videos and presentations, aiming to
foster farmers' interest in the PM KUSUM scheme (Component A). Sh. Nayyab
Mittal, Manager from the Punjab Energy Development Agency, also provided
valuable insights on state government schemes promoting renewable energy
sources in agricultural activities. Dr. Jugraj Singh from PAU, Ludhiana
has also provided valuable insights on opportunities in the Agro Photovoltaic
system.
The
workshop concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr Preeti Mamgai, Principal
Scientist and Programme Coordinator.
